How long does it take to tour the Opera House?
The standard guided tour lasts about one hour. The Backstage Tour runs 2.5 hours and includes breakfast in the Green Room.
What is the best way to get to the Sydney Opera House?
By public transport to Circular Quay, then a five-minute walk along the harbour. Arriving by ferry gives you the most scenic first view of the sails.
Do I need to book tours in advance?
Yes — tours frequently sell out, especially in peak season (December to February and around school holidays). Book online at least a few days ahead.
Is the Sydney Opera House wheelchair accessible?
Yes. Lifts, ramps and accessible toilets serve every public area, and the main halls offer assistive listening. Contact access services in advance for personalised assistance.

There is no formal dress code. Most audience members opt for smart-casual attire; opera and ballet openings tend to be a little dressier.
Can I take photos inside the Opera House?
Photography is welcome in the foyers and on tours, but not permitted during performances.
